Hailing from North Carolina, banbwoi is making a name for himself as a respected producer and rapper. Having produced tracks for popular artists such as Yung Bans, NBA Youngboy, and Famous Dex – there is no doubt you will hear more from banbwoi in the future. Check out what he had to say.
MHD: To kick things off, tell us about banbwoi? Where are you from? How long have you been making music? Etc.
BANBWOI: I’ve been making music for about 5 years but I’ve only been “banbwoi” and taking music serious for 2 years. I’m from a small town name Elizabeth city and that’s in North Carolina.
MHD: How did you start making music ? Who were some of your early musical influences?
BANBWOI: I started making music because growing up I always seen my dad make music and I’m a daddy’s bwoi! so I was always inspired! Early on I was inspired by Treez lowkey, Drake, and Jurp, but now I’m really just doing my own thing I feel.
MHD: How do you balance putting out your own solo tracks as an MC, while being a producer that’s in demand?
BANBWOI: Honestly, I try to produce as much as I can because that’s where the money is coming from to fund my rapping career. I honestly write 2 times a month…MAX!!
MHD: You’ve produced some of the hottest artists in the game. Let the people know some of the artists you’ve produced for and track names?
Yung Bans – Brand New
NBA Youngboy – Change
Lamont – Duck
Boofboiicy – Stretch Them
PNV Jay – Cake
YBN Nahmir – Balcony (unreleased)
The Future Kingz – Do the Dash & Call the Cops
D Savage – Lightly
Famous Dex – Right Now & Real Life
And a bunch of other music but it’s unreleased
MHD: Recently, we’ve been bumping that “Famous Dex – Real Life” heavy. You did your thing on that track! Which song, that you produced, made you realize you were really starting to make waves musically?
BANBWOI: It was my first placement (Yung Bans – Brand New) when I knew, damn, I can actually do this music thing and people fw my sound!
MHD: Who are some artists that you haven’t worked with yet, but would like to work with in the future?
BANBWOI: I would like to work with Travis Scott! and definitely GUNNA and LIL BABY.
MHD: If you could recommend to a new listener only two of your tracks: 1) One that you produced 2) One as solo artist – Which songs would they be and why?
BANBWOI: “DUBBA 0 Dopebwoi“ and “HUNNIDBANDBANMAN”.
MHD: Where do you see yourself musically in 5 years?
BANBWOI: At the top of billboard hot 100!
MHD: Do you have any advice for up-and-coming producers trying to make it to the next level?
BANBWOI: Just keep pushing. Eventually, you’ll get those placements. YOUTUBE IS THE WAAAAAVE I’m telling you.
MHD: Any upcoming projects that we should be on the lookout for?
BANBWOI: My mixtape “HIGHSCHOOL“ is dropping soon!
MHD: Any @’s the people should follow? (Twitter, Soundcloud, etc.)
BANBWOI: @banbwoi on everything!
